A passagem de uma sociedade do trabalho, centrada em uma ética produtivista, dá lugar a uma sociedade do consumo, hedonista, na qual o tempo livre é consumido como mais uma mercadoria, instrumentalizada pela Indústria Cultural (Adorno). Neste artigo, se defende a tese de que a atual proeminência do tempo livre sobre o tempo do trabalho, somente ocor-re porque este se tornou um tempo de produção, viabilizado pelas novas tecnologias, pela indústria cultural e pelo consumo. As categorias analíticas de ambas temporalidades se tor-nam cada vez mais indistinguíveis, num sistema social e econômico em que predominam a uniformização de um tempo enquanto subproduto da mercantilização. A partir da crítica da cultura frankfurteana e dos conceitos sociológicos de Bauman (sociedade líquida) e Sennett (flexitempo) este artigo analisa as estratégias de invasão do tempo livre pelo trabalho, in-terpretados não mais como dois polos antitéticos, mas submetidos à mesma lógica produti-vista do capitalismo tardio.The passage from a working society, centred in an productive ethic, gives way to a consum-ing and hedonist society in which leisure time is consumed like a merchandise instrumen-talized by the Culture Industry (Adorno). In this article we defend the thesis that the prominence of leisure over working time is possible because the former became a produc-tive time by means of the new technologies, the Culture Industry and the consumerism. The analytical categories of both temporalities become even more undistinguishable in a economic and social system dominated by the uniformities of a time which is a sub-product of the merchandising. Making usage of the Frankfurt critic of the culture, the sociological concepts of liquid society (Bauman) and flexi-time (Sennet), this article analyses the inva-sion of leisure by working time which makes impossible the distinction between them as opposite categories and makes us considering both as part of the same productive logic of late capitalism
