Les novel·les de Gabriel Trujillo Muñoz, aplegades en el volum Mexicali City Blues (2006), es desenvolupen a partir de les premisses de la novel·la negra i l'origen és possible rastrejar-lo en el hard-boiled americà. No obstant això, presenten certes característiques pròpies de l'espai geogràfic i cultural on succeeixen: el desert i l'espai fronterer entre Mèxic i els Estats Units. Aquest treball pretén ser una reflexió crítica sobre la violència en aquests textos narratius, així com sobre la pertinència d'escriure al voltant d'aquesta temàtica.The novels of Gabriel Trujillo Muñoz gathered in the volume Mexicali City Blues (2006) develop from the premises of the thriller, whose origin can be traced in the hard-boiled American. However, they have certain characteristics of geographical and cultural space where they happen: the desert and the border area between Mexico and the United States. This paper is a critical reflection on violence in these texts narrative and on the relevance of writing about this subject.Las novelas de Gabriel Trujillo Muñoz, reunidas en el volumen Mexicali City Blues (2006), se desarrollan a partir de las premisas de la novela negra y cuyo origen es posible rastrear en el hard-boiled estadounidense. Sin embargo, presentan ciertas características propias del espacio geográfico y cultural donde suceden: el desierto y el espacio fronterizo entre México y Estados Unidos. Este trabajo pretende ser una reflexión crítica sobre la violencia en estos textos narrativos, así como sobre la pertinencia de escribir en torno a esta temática
