La influencia que el pintor Isidre Nonell (Barcelona, 1872-1911) hauria exercit sobre l’obra juvenil de Picasso es un assumpte molt poc tractat, o tractat de forma molt tangencial en el conjunt de la bibliografia picassiana. Sovint, s’ha subestimat o s’ha minimitzat l’impacte que el primer hauria pogut tenir en el pintor mes extraordinari del segle XX. Potser perque, en el cas de Picasso, estem davant d’un artista excepcional, autor d’una obra molt personal, unica, i que no admet comparacions facils. Potser perque la seva capacitat d’absorbir els estimuls externs i d’interpretar-los genialment no ajuda a identificar influencies evidents en les seves obres. Potser perque l’influx de Nonell cap a Picasso no te tant a veure amb l’estil, sino amb afinitats tematiques i conceptuals. El present article preten ser una primera aproximacio a aquesta questio i proposa una serie de comparacions i d’hipotesis obertes al debat.
