En los últimos años, el interés por la semántica de términos ficticios ha crecido considerablemente en el marco de la tradición analítica. De forma general, es posible distinguir dos grandes tipos de propuestas semánticas: las propuestas ontológicamente comprometidas con entidades ficticias (o realistas) y las que evitan dicho compromiso (que podríamos llamar «deflacionarias»). Entre estas últimas, se destaca la propuesta inscripcionalista de Nelson Goodman y Catherine Elgin, que constituye el eje de análisis del presente artículo. Su objetivo principal es mostrar algunas de las ventajas de la propuesta inscripcionalista frente a las propuestas realistas. En la segunda sección, analizo algunas de las dificultades que conllevan las propuestas realistas y luego muestro que estas no tienen lugar en la propuesta de Goodman y Elgin. En la tercera sección, presento la propuesta inscripcionalista, centrándome en su ampliación, la noción de referencia y sus diversas modalidades, y también analizo una serie de enunciados problemáticos utilizando los modos referenciales anteriormente presentados.In the last years, the interest for the semantics of fictional terms has increased considerably in the context of the analytical tradition. In general, one can distinguish two main kinds of semantic accounts: the ones ontologically committed to fictional entities (realist proposals) and the ones that avoid this commitment (which could be called «deflationist»). Among the latter, Nelson Goodman and Catherine Elgin’s inscriptionalist account stands out; this is the focus of analysis in this article. Its main purpose is to show some of the advantages of the inscriptionalist account as opposed to the realist accounts. In the second section I examine some of the difficulties implicit in realist accounts and then I show that this are avoided in Goodman and Elgin’s account. In the third section I present the inscriptionalist account, focusing on its development, the notion of reference as well as its several modes and I also analyze a series of problematic propositions using the referential modes previously discussed
