El hombre actual opta por el escepticismo ante un mundo que parece haber roto todas las promesas de felicidad, un mundo donde el individuo se siente arrojado y en el que ya no confía. Desde planteamientos diferentes, los relatos de Patricia Esteban Erlés y de David Roas abordan el tema de los fracasos cotidianos. Los protagonistas de sus obras sufren el abandono, la soledad o el desastre en un entorno cercano al lector, pues la realidad domina en cada uno de ellos. Sin embargo, en ambos autores lo fantástico surge como un método de enfrentamiento al absurdo y, por tanto, desafía al personaje, y al lector, cuestionándose los límites de ese entorno en el que viven. Los horrores cotidianos de Esteban Erlés y de Roas, partiendo de las miserias del individuo contemporáneo, transgreden los códigos reales y oscilan entre un desenlace inexplicable o ambiguo.Nowadays, man chooses skepticism in a world that seems to have broken all promises of happiness, a world where the individual feels cast out and a world not to be trusted anymore. Coming from different approaches, the tales of Patricia Esteban Erlés and David Roas deal with the issues of daily failures. The protagonists of their works suffer abandonment, loneliness or disaster in an environment quite close to the reader, for reality rules over each of them. Nevertheless, in all of them the fantastic emerges as a means of struggling against the absurd, thus challenging both the character and the reader to question the limits of the environment in which they live. Starting from the miseries of the contemporary human being, the everyday horrors of Esteban Erlés and Roas violate the codes of reality and range from an unexplained outcome to an ambiguous one
