A lo largo los años 40 el cine argentino vivió un proceso de aburguesamiento con la comedia como uno de sus géneros predilectos, generando un mundo sofisticado donde los jóvenes burgueses podían vivir sus aventuras amorosas sin preocupaciones ni responsabilidades, y donde se podían cuestionar instituciones sociales intocables como el matrimonio y el trabajo. Para la construcción de este mundo se apeló a formas narrativas como la parodia y la farsa, siendo uno de sus motivos recurrentes la presencia de elementos sobrenaturales que permitían desplazar la acción hacia terrenos irreales desde donde poder ridiculizar el orden social. Filmes como Cita en las estrellas (Carlos Schlieper, 1949) y El extraño caso de la mujer asesinada (Boris H. Hardy, 1949) articularon escenarios celestiales de la vida después de la muerte con discursos críticos de la monogamia y el amor eterno, al mismo tiempo que presentaban nuevos personajes femeninos en la pantalla cinematográfica argentina.Comedy was one of the main genres in the embourgeoisement that Argentine cinema went through in the 1940s. This process proposed a sophisticated universe where young bourgeois men and women could carelessly and recklessly have romantic adventures, and untouchable social institutions such as marriage and work life could be questioned. This approach was made possible by resorting to narrative forms such as parody and farce, and recurring motifs like supernatural elements that displaced the action to unreal scenarios where social order could be mocked. Movies such as Cita en las estrellas (Carlos Schlieper, 1949) and El extraño caso de la mujer asesinada (Boris H. Hardy, 1949) articulated heavenly afterlife settings with critical stances about monogamy and eternal love, while, at the same time, presenting new female characters for the Argentine film screen
