A lo largo de los años se ha ido desarrollando la idea de que los avances técnicos suponen la extensión de los sentidos del ser humano. Un proceso que ha permitido a la sociedad evolucionar. De la relación entre el ser humano y la tecnología surge el concepto de cíborg (Clynes y Kline, 1960), con un gran desarrollo en la ciencia ficción y que en un primer momento hacía referencia a la incorporación de elementos exógenos al ser humano para facilitar su adaptación a ecosistemas extraterrestres. Otras definiciones posteriores (Clarck, 2003) proponen considerar al cíborg como el resultado de la interacción entre el ser humano y la tecnología. Partiendo de esta definición, el presente artículo pretende conocer el modo en el que los teléfonos inteligentes cumplen actualmente la función de nexo entre la parte biológica y la parte tecnológica del ser humano cíborg. Para ello, a través de una metodología cualitativa (historias de vida) se analiza el papel de estos dispositivos en las vidas de ocho jóvenes. La relevancia de investigar a jóvenes reside en el papel que este colectivo social desempeña a la hora de incorporar y difundir los elementos tecnológicos novedosos en la sociedad.La investigación se desarrolla en Aragón, una comunidad autónoma española que continúa representando un territorio periférico, con escasa presencia tanto a escala poblacional como económica en el conjunto español. A pesar de ello y a diferencia de lo que ocurrió en otros momentos de la historia, Aragón se ha acercado incluso en sus zonas más periféricas a los estándares de penetración y usos tecnológicos del resto del mundo.Los resultados de la investigación confirman el importante papel que desempeñan los teléfonos inteligentes en las vidas de los jóvenes como extensión de sus sentidos, en particular de sus cerebros.Over the years an idea has been developing that technical advances become the extension of the senses of human beings. A process that has allowed society to evolve. From the relationship between human beings and technology, emerged the concept of the cyborg (Clynes and Kline, 1960), and with a great growth in science fiction that at first referenced the incorporation of exogenous elements to the human being to facilitate their adaptation to extraterrestrial ecosystems. Other definitions that followed (Clarck, 2003) proposed for consideration that the cyborg is the result of the interactions between human beings and technology. Starting from this definition, this article proposes the way that smartphones currently fulfill the function of the nexus between the biological part and the technological part of the human cyborg. For this, through qualitative methodology (life histories), the role of these devices in the lives of eight youth is analyzed. The relevance of investigating youth lies in the role that this collective social plays at the time of incorporating and diffusing elements of novel technology to society.The research is carried out in Aragon, an Spanish Autonomous Community that it continues representing a peripheral territory with little presence at the population level and at the Spanish´s economy. In spite of this and in contrast to what happened in other moments in history, Aragon has approached, even at its most peripheral areas, to the standards of penetration and technological applications of the rest of the world.The research results confirm the important role that smartphones play in the lives of young people as an extension of their senses, in particular, of their brains. Al llarg dels anys s’ha anat desenvolupant la idea que els avenços tècnics suposen l’extensió dels sentits de l’ésser humà. Un procés que ha permès evolucionar la societat. De la relació entre l’ésser humà i la tecnologia sorgeix el concepte de cíborg (Clynes i Kline, 1960), amb un gran desenvolupament en la ciència ficció i que en un primer moment feia referència a la incorporació d’elements exògens a l’ésser humà per facilitar la seva adaptació a ecosistemes extraterrestres. Altres definicions posteriors (Clarck, 2003) proposen considerar el cíborg com el resultat de la interacció entre l’ésser humà i la tecnologia. Partint d’aquesta definició, el present article pretén conèixer la manera en què els telèfons intel·ligents compleixen actualment la funció de nexe entre la part biològica i la part tecnològica de l’ésser humà cíborg. Per fer-ho, a través d’una metodologia qualitativa (històries de vida) s’analitza el paper d’aquests dispositius en les vides de vuit joves. La rellevància d’investigar joves rau en el paper que aquest col·lectiu social té a l’hora d’incorporar i difondre els elements tecnològics innovadors en la societat.La investigació es desenvolupa a Aragó, una comunitat autònoma espanyola que continua representant un territori perifèric, amb escassa presència tant a escala poblacional com econòmica en el conjunt espanyol. Malgrat això i a diferència del que va succeir en altres moments de la història, Aragó s’ha acostat fins i tot en les seves zones més perifèriques als estàndards de penetració i usos tecnològics de la resta del món.Els resultats de la investigació confirmen l’important paper que tenen els telèfons intel·ligents en les vides dels joves com a extensió dels seus sentits, en particular dels seus cervells.
