Cilj rada bio je utvrditi verbalne strategije koje rabe majkeprilikom pomaganja djeci u dobi od 5 do 7 godina urješavanju kognitivnih zadataka u zoni idućega razvoja teutvrditi rabe li majke različite verbalne strategije s obziromna djetetov spol. U istraživanju su sudjelovale majke (N = 80)i njihova djeca (41 dječak i 39 djevojčica). Majke i djecasnimani su videokamerom tijekom rješavanja kognitivnihzadataka, a potom su snimke analizirane. Analizirane suverbalne reakcije majki nakon netočnoga i nakon točnogadjetetova odgovora kad su prvi odgovori ili više djetetovihodgovora bili netočni. Majke se ne razlikuju s obzirom naspol djece po strategijama pomaganja u rješavanjukognitivnih zadataka, kao ni u verbalnim strategijama kad bidjeca točno riješila zadatak. Djevojčicama su majke najčešćepomagale riješiti zadatke tako da su ih poticale narazmišljanje, dok su kod pomaganja dječacima majkenajčešće primjenjivale tehniku građenja skela. Kada bi djecatočno riješila zadatak, pošto su prvi ili više djetetovihodgovora bili netočni, najčešća strategija majki i za dječake iza djevojčice bila je da daju povratnu informaciju o točnomrješenju.The aim of the study was to investigate maternal verbalstrategies in the process of scaffolding their children tocomplete cognitive tasks in the zone of proximaldevelopment, and to examine whether mothers useddifferent verbal strategies with children of different sex. Thestudy was conducted with mothers (N = 80) and theirchildren (41 boys and 39 girls) aged 5 to 7. The dyads werevideo recorded during interaction on problem-solving tasksand the recordings were analyzed. The analysis of maternalverbal reactions was conducted after child\u27s correct and afterchild\u27s incorrect answer when children provided first incorrectand, later, correct answers. In this study there were nosignificant differences between maternal verbal strategiesused either in the process of scaffolding children of differentsex on problem-solving tasks or after the children solved theproblem correctly. When children offered an incorrectanswer, the most frequent maternal strategy was toencourage girls to re-think and to use the technique ofscaffolding for boys. When the correct answer was givenafter one or a number of failed attempts, the most frequentmaternal verbal strategy for boys and girls was to confirm itscorrectness
