Finding success on the labour market by people withdisabilities is influenced by several factors: their readinessand motivation, the available opportunities, the attitudes ofemployers and the society, as well as the preparedness of thelabour market and the work environment to incorporate them intothe work stream. Social and economic advancements demand thatthe youth be equipped with skills and competences contributingto their full-fledged integration. Objectives: The aim of theresearch presented herein was to ascertain the experience ofpeople with physical disabilities with the labour market (workconditions, job search reasons, obstacles, etc.). Methods: Themain technique of the qualitative research was asemi-structured interview. Participants were people withcongenital and acquired restricted mobility (here as a resultof multiple sclerosis) with work experience. Based on theobtained information, we formulated the skills and competencesthat can be seen as necessary for employment in the 21stcentury. Results: The barriers experienced by people withdisabilities in the work environment arise from theirdisabilities as well as the attitudes of their employers, theiropenness and friendliness. The overall attitude of the societytowards people with disabilities is also perceived assignificant.
