Objective: Water is the most basic source of all living things on earth. The aim of this study is to determine the behavior of young adults aged between 18-40 in Malatya province center for water consumption and to determine the factors affecting these behaviors. Methods: Our study is a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted in Malatya province center in December 2016. According to our pilot study results, the minimum number of samples to be achieved is 980.A questionnaire was applied to 1208 people. In the factor questioning section of the questionnaire, questions about the socio demographic characteristics and some properties related to water consumption were used; in the phenomenon inquiry part of the questionnaire, the Water Consumption Behavior Scale consisting of 16 items was used. In the analysis of the data; Mann Whitney-U and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used. p<0,05 was accepted as significant in all evaluations. Results: As 1208 people participated in our study. When the participants’ total scores on the water consumption behavior scale are examined in terms of various socio-demographic characteristics, the mean total score of women is 49.3±10.58, and that of males ÖZET Amaç: Su yeryüzündeki bütün canlıların en temel kaynağıdır. Yaşamın devamı için olmazsa olmazdır. İnsan vücudunun en önemli komponentlerinden biridir ve vücut büyük oranda sudan oluşur. Bu çalışmanın amacı Malatya il merkezinde yaşayan 18-40 yaş genç erişkinlerin su tüketimine yönelik davranışlarını belirlemek ve bu davranışları etkileyen faktörleri tespit etmektir. Yöntem: Araştırmamız tanımlayıcı-kesitsel tipte bir çalışma olup, 2016 Aralık ayında Malatya il merkezinde yapılmıştır. Yaptığımız pilot çalışma sonuçlarına göre ulaşılması gereken minimum örneklem sayısı 980 olarak bulunmuştur. 1208 kişiye anket uygulanmıştır. Anketin faktör sorgulama bölümünde kişilerin sosyo demografik özellikleri ile su tüketimi ile ilişkili bazı özelliklerini sorgulayan sorular, anketin fenomen sorgulama kısmında ise 16 maddeden oluşan Su Tüketim Davranışları Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde; Mann Whitney-U ve Kruskal-Wallis testleri kullanılmıştır. Tüm değerlendirmelerde p<0,05 düzeyi anlamlı olarak kabul edilmiştir. Bulgular: Çalışmamıza 1208 kişi katılmıştır.
