Turkey, by experiencing all four seasons, is a country with a very rich production pattern in terms of the diversity of agricultural production experienced. In recent years, the Southeastern Anatolia Region has become an important agricultural production center on the scale of Turkey as GAP’s major parts included in the system and agricultural production has been significantly improved. Our region is Turkey’s wheat and lentil gene centers. In addition, in recent years there have been significant increases in corn production in the region with the increase of irrigable fields along with GAP. However, it seems that the GAP has many negative impact on the region, along with the positive ones. As a matter of fact, in order to obtain more products in GAP agricultural areas, too many misapplications are being made which threaten human and environmental health. The significant part of these applications are chemical pesticides that are used to combat plant diseases and pests. Because chemical pesticides are synthetic toxic substances, they can form long-term residues in plant products as well as in soil, water and in the air. For this reason, it is predicted that chemical pesticides will cause some degradation in the ecology of the region as well as human and environmental health, and that the agricultural production will gradually decrease over the years and that production can no longer be done in these areas.
