Aim Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), generally manifests itself with dyspnea, with increasing hypoxia it disturb the right ventricle function also. This study shows the increasing of Carotid intima media thickness (CIMT) because of hypoxia and systemic inflammation due to COPD. The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between CIMT and RV functions in COPD patients. . Material and Method 108 patients with history of COPD patients were included in this study, evaluation of RV by echocardiography was done to all participants in our cardiology clinic. Carotid intima media thickness measured by carotid ultrasonography were performed in all patiens. The COPD patient who included in this study was classified according to GOLD classification.. Results COPD patients participated in the study. Average value of CIMT 1.34±0.26 is founded. Average value FEV1(Forced expiratory volume in one second) (% tagged predicted) 66±11 detected. We detect the correlation between CIMT and systolic pulmonary artery pressure (sPAP), Tricuspid Annular Plane Systolic Excursion TAPSE, FEV1 Stdi (Tissue Doppler İmaging) of the right ventricle (RV), RV diameter, RV ejection fraction (respectively r=0.440, p<0.001; r=-0,555, p<0.001; r=-0.516, p<0.001; r=-0.448, p<0.001; r=0.205, p=0.034; 0.335, p=0.007) also. Correlation between CIMT and TAPSE founded according to multivariate adjusted analysis (RR=-0.230, p=0.001). (classification to sub-group) was made according to GOLD classification , the patients who classified as grade 3-4 was different from patient who classified as grade 1-2 in CIMT TAPSE, sPAP (Pulmonary artery systolic pressure) sTDI (respectively p=0.047, p=0.015, p=0.019, p=0.048 ). Conclusion Antenatal complications, maternal bleeding, premature birth and problems related to prematüre birth are the main causes of morbidity and mortality in cases of plecenta previa. Being aware of plecenta previa results in elective surgery before the onset of delivery with an experienced team at tertiary hospitals. Thus; the incidence of complications decreases.
