The article presents the results of fragmented analysis of the humanitarian component of professional knowledge of civil aviation specialists on the implementation of the training discipline “human factor” and formation of competence “professional responsibility”. Hypothesis of the research: one of the dominant causes of aircraft catastrophes is the lack of specialized linking competence, which is based on the humanitarian aspect of the professionalism of sectoral specialists. The analysis focuses on the following areas: the structure of educational institutions providing training for civil aviation specialists; the content of federal state educational standards; list of disciplines being studied; and content of additional vocational education programmes. In order to determine the effectiveness of the training of flight crew members in «human factor» discipline, a survey was carried out on active crews of various types of aircraft. The results of the analysis are presented as the main problems in the system of civil aviation training.
