Polar and Cartesian Coordinates are inadequate for the solution of technical problems in the hexagonal geometry of fast reactor cores. A consistent method for describing positions on the basis of regular hexagonal structures was developed, which is especially suitable for expressing neighbourhood relationships between hexagons. A set of algo~ithms was develop, which allows effective storage of information about regular hexagonal structures in a linear array. The corresponding Fortran-routines are described.
