The paper aims at dealing with territory notions from economicalapproaches, usually used in Geography. Many times, territoryconcepts that limit it to a physical base, superficial, of theeconomical processses that produce space, are predominantin studies about the spacial transformations and spaceproduction. This way, Geography adopts conceptualinterpretations from natives of other fields of knowledge, fromdifferent forms of thinking and methods. Territory andterritoriality escape this way from an ample reading of thespace. In the case of the rural space, being greatly defined foreconomical elements, it has in its territoriality the presence ofactions headed to the regional development. Evaluating aneffective construction of the territory, constituted by theeconomical logic and its socio-cultural political implicationsabout the rural space, is mainly important.O trabalho propõe discutir as noções de território a partir dasabordagens econômicas, comumente utilizadas na Geografia.Muitas vezes, os conceitos de território que o limitam à basefísica, superficial, dos processos econômicos que produzemo espaço, são predominantes em estudos sobre as transformaçõesespaciais e produção do espaço. Assim, a Geografiaadota interpretações conceituais oriundas de outros camposdo conhecimento, de diversas correntes de pensa-mento emétodos. Território e territorialidades escapam desse modo àleitura mais ampla do espaço. No caso do espaço rural, sendodefinido em boa parte por elementos econômicos, tem emsua territorialidade a presença de ações direcionadas aodesenvolvimento regional. Avaliar uma efetiva construção doterritório, constituído pela lógica econômica e suas implicaçõespolíticas e socioculturais sobre o espaço rural, é sobremodoimportante
