The four steps in translation put up by George Steiner, i. e. , trust, aggression, incorporation, and restitution, explain the hermeneutic process of translation, and broaden the research field on translation. This paper aims to apply Steiner’s theory to Guo Moruo’s Selected English Poem Translation, to explore the essence and process of translation, hoping to provide a theoretical basis for translating English poetry into Chinese.
