This reflective article gathers theoretical elements of a broad bibliographic review on health education and its importance in the educational curriculum, part of it, also includes experiential elements of the dynamics of society against the social determinants and determinants of health, an encounter with technology consumerism and globalization. Seen from public health, some authors have revealed the determinants of health to give a special treatment based on the prevention of diseases and health promotion, for the balance between the individual and the conditioning elements of the environment; In this context, the importance of including in the educational curriculum at the different levels of training the construction of knowledge competencies in relation to health education is emphasized, with the understanding that the joint society has an enormous responsibility in the dynamics of maintenance of individual and collective health, with self-sustainability in terms of time, taking as a reference the life expectancy of the population, as Abraham Lincoln mentions: “In the end, what matters is not the years of life, but the life of the years”. So it is not enough to live so many years if we live poorly, if the quality of life is not satisfactory.
