The purpose of this study is to examine the visual control of gait in the long jump approach for school children and untrained college students. Analysis of existing film records revealed that all subjects adopted a visual control strategy at some points during their final strides. School children adopted a visual control from one stride to five strides away from the takeoff zone of 150cm, from one stride to four strides away from takeoff zone of 50cm, and from one stride to ten strides away from takeoff zone of 20cm. College students, on the other hand, adopted a visual control from one stride to eight strides away from the takeoff zone of 150cm, and from one stride to four strides away from the takeoff zone of 50cm and 20cm. This was thus taken to indicate that visual control of gait in the long jump approach is not a specially trained skill as much as it is a natural means of controlling gait. School children, however, differed from college students in the control of gait for three takeoff zones. 1.緒 言 従来,走 幅跳 では踏切 を正確 に行 うため に,助 走中 視覚 に依存 しない方が高いパ フォーマ ンス を得 られ る と考 えられてお り,そ の依存性 を促進 す る考 え方 は希 に しか存在 しなかった 。 しか し,Lee et al.は トップ ・アス リー トを被験者 として用い,走 幅跳の助 走中 に歩幅が平均 して踏切3 歩前(6m)に 大 きく変動 する ことを見出 した。また, HayもLee et a1.と 同様 な被験 者 による競技会時 の走 幅跳 の助 走中の歩幅の制御 を調べ た。その結果,男 子 の ロ ン グ ・ジャ ン パー は 平 均 し て 踏 切5.1歩 前 (12.5m)に 歩幅が大 き く変動 し,女子の ロング ・ジャ ンパー は踏切4.7歩 前(9.7m)に それが変動 す るこ と を見出 した。 これ らの結果 か ら,Lee et al.は 走幅跳の助走が踏 切数歩前 までは運動 プログラムに よってステ レオタイ プ的 に遂行 されてい るが,そ れ以後には踏切 を正確に 行 うため に,視覚的 に歩幅 を制御 している と考察 した。 そ して,こ の走幅跳の視覚的 な歩幅の制御 は知覚 一運 動結合 をGibsonの 生態学的視覚論 か ら検討す ること の重要性が主張 されてい る。それ による と,運 動制御 に利用 され る視 覚情報 をtauと 呼んで いる。tauは 対 象面 の光学的膨張率で ある。それ は対象 と知覚者が衝 突す るまでの時 間の逆数 に比例 してお り,走 幅跳の助 走 中の歩幅 の制御 に とって主要 な情報源 と考 えられて いる 。 さ らに,Berg et al.は 高校生の ロング ・ジャンパー を対象 に競技会 での走幅跳の助走 を分析 した。その結 * 鳴 門 教 育 大 学 大 学 院Graduate School Education, Naruto University of Education, Takashima, Naruto.cho, Naruto. shi, 772, Japan ** 鳴 門 教 育 大 学 生 活 ・健 康 系Faculty of Health and Living Sciences, Naruto University of Education, Takashima, Naruto-cho, Naruto-shi, 772, Japan
