The mixed carbonate-siliciclastic platforms are still little studied, although they represent important regional sedimentary successions in the Brasilia Fold Belt. The aim of the present paper is to determine the depositional conditions of the Psamo-Pelito-Carbonate Unit (top of the Paranoa Group) and of the Sete Lagoas Formation (base of the Bambui Group), north of the Federal District region, Brazil. The sedimentation of the two successions processed in a mixed platform controlled by paleogeography of the substratum where carbonate facies had been deposited in shallow environment and the detritic facies occupied the deepest waters. In the Paranoa Group the small limestone and dolomitic lenses occupied the highest areas, while the pelitic facies is deposited in the depressions and the coarse sandstone correspond to the channels in the platform. In the Sete Lagoas Formation the major carbonate lenses were deposited on the basement highs over the post glacial erosive surface that marks the discordance between the Paranoa and Bambui groups. In both units the micritic mud precipitation was predominant, while the reworking by base of waves occurred sporadically and associated to transgressive / regressive activities. The aggradation of terrigenous material was responsible for the sedimentation pelitic facies. The dimensions, thicknesses and distribution of the carbonate lenses show that the paleo relief was more accented during the deposition of the Sete Lagoas Formation, if compared with the Psamo-Pelitic-Carbonate Unit. On the other hand, the sedimentation rate was larger during the deposition of Psamo-Pelitic-Carbonate Unit than in the Sete Lagoas Formation.
