: To have clear concepts and precise terminology isthe basis of any science. New knowledge is founded from thedevelopment and continuity of previous contents, by extractingterms from the mother language, or foreign languages. This articlewill examine Arabic terminology in the field of Open Access,based on a comparison of the origins in English language with theefforts made by the French and what have Arab writers done; Theauthor suggests a preliminary list of terms to be discussed seriouslyand collectively , and thinks that the best term for Open Access inArabic is (al- nafad al-maftouh ) and not (al wusul al-horr) (=freearrival)
