Although it is necessary for professional baseball players to take properly balanced diets meeting their training conditions, only very few number of players are known to take the nutrients which meet their logical and theoretical needs for maintaining health. In this study, the nutrient intake, hematological observation, and biochemical observations in the serum were investigated and the suitable food intake for their training was discussed. In respect of the nutrient intake, energy intake was very low, especially the carbohydrate intake. The protein intake was rather low compared to the vigorousness of their exercises. The cases of anemia seem to be attributable to the low protein intake. Jap. J. Nutr., 39 (5) 209-217 (1981)
