Case1) A 61-year-old man visited our hospital with a reddish nodule measuring 21×5×5mm on his left upper eyelid margin. He noticed the nodule 6 months before visiting. He had been in a demented state after a subarachnoidal hemorrhage. Case2) A 69-year-old woman noticed a nodule on the right upper eyelid margin about 9 months before her visit to our department. The nodule was reddish and was 23×12×10mm in size. She had also treatment-resistant bronchial asthma. Histology of the biopsy specimens of the two cases revealed aggregation of basophilic atypical tumor cells with scanty cytoplasm that were immunohistochemically positive for CK20 and chromogranin A. No metastasis was detected in regional lymph nodes or in distant organs in either case. Because the complications prevented from resection and reconstruction under general anesthesia for the two cases, we performed radiotherapy. The lesion of the casel completely regressed by total 58Gy-electron beam therapy. The subject has not experienced recurrence or apparent metastasis 21 months after the treatment. In Case2, 60Gy-electron beam therapy produced complete regression, and there has been no evidence of recurrence and metastasis for 5 months. [Skin Cancer (Japan) 2003; 18: 22-27]
