Objective: Aims of this study at evaluating the seroprevalence of antigen positivity and retrospective correlation with demographic data in stool specimens which were sent to the laboratory for rotavirus antigen testing from patients with suspicion of gastroenteritis between January 2013 and December 2018. Method: Rotavirus and adenovirus antigens were examined with the immunochromatographic test (RIDA Quick Rotavirus/Adenovirus Combi, R-Biopharm, Germany) in stool specimens according to the recommendations of the manufacturer. Results: 1359 patients were screened for rotavirus and 1270 patients for adenovirus antigen and aged was between 0-5 years. Rotavirus antigen was detected in 194 (%14.3) and adenovirus antigen in 39 (3.1%) of the investigated all stool samples. Rotavirus antigen positivity was most frequently in the 0-1 age group (n=141, 72.7%) and was the most common season in winter. Adenovirus antigen positivity was found between 0-24 month age group (n=20, 51.3%) and the most frequency season was determined as winter. Conclusion: The most common cause of gastroenteritis in children is rotavirus; found to be lower than the previous period. Adenovirus is similar to the data of the other regions of Turkey.
