Smart Applications for the Cultural Heritage are playing an increasingly fundamental role in several fields, ranging from tourism to home entertainment. As soon as advanced wireless technologies for high bandwidth-demanding contents and appropriate mobile devices will be at the studentsâ disposal, such services will greatly enrich a wide range of e/m-Learning fields, such as History of Art, Science and Technology. This paper focuses on two distinct but related aspects concerning advanced visual contents from the Cultural Heritage and their use in smart education environments. First, the concept is investigated of âPerceived Quality of Serviceâ (PQoS) in visual environments, and a representation discussed of the steps between reality representation and perception in fine arts. Second, visual contents are mostly enjoyed through wireless networks and mobile devices, so, during a lesson involving high bandwidth-demanding contents such as HD streaming, the bottleneck is data dimension. An architecture is consequently proposed for the dynamic management of bandwidth release on the basis of content size and duration.
