The widespread idea that traditional classroom lectures is not the best teaching approach has motivated educators to continuously seek new ways to encourage students towards active involmenent. Studies show that constructivist learners tend to explore the concepts covered in laboratory activities, resulting in a richer understanding. In this sense, we will propose to integrate simple sensor-based electronic musical instruments in signal processing courses to help students understand basic concepts, while making them to interact with a real systems that integrates, at once, software and hardware components.
