Resumo: Equilibrar trabalho e responsabilidades familiares é um dos principais desafios colocados às famílias trabalhadoras contemporâneas. Este artigo problematiza as condições das famílias para enfrentar esse desafio a partir dos resultados de uma pesquisa qualitativa com trabalhadores que produzem para o setor têxtil na cidade de Jaraguá do Sul/SC. Os resultados mostram que, diante da inexistência de políticas que favoreçam o equilíbrio trabalho-família, são articuladas estratégias de caráter essencialmente privado: arranjos e adaptações no cotidiano, “opção” pelo trabalho informal e em domicílio; divisão do trabalho familiar entre os cônjuges e práticas de solidariedade familiar. Nesse contexto, demarca-se a sobrecarga da família e a negação dos direitos de cidadania.Palavras-chave: Família. Trabalho. Cidadania.Abstract: One of the main challenges of contemporary working families is to balance work and families responsibilities. This work discusses the conditions of families to meet this challenge based on the results of a qualitative research with people that produce to textile industry in Jaraguá do Sul/SC. The results show that in the face of lack of policies that promote work-family balance, strategies essentially private are articulated: arrangements and adjustments in daily life, the “option” for informal work and work at home; the division of the family work between the spouses and the family solidarity practices. In the context, it stands out fromthe overhead of the family and the denial of citizenship rights.Keywords: Family. Work. Citizenship.</p
