This article discusses the contributions of the Þ eld diary for the social worker's training process, starting with excerpts from the diary of a student. We argue that it is necessary to promote a broad debate on the issues raised around the Þ eld diary, for example, who may read it and how can it be used on the tripod teaching, research and extension training.
