Gloria y peluca, zarzuela in one act performed for the first timpe in 1851, is a real manifest in defending a real Spanish musical theatre, against Italian opera, here caricatured in the figure the main mal character: Marcelo Pelusa. In the play, appears the point of wiew of the emerging middle calss of Madrid, which abhorred the pasional excesses of Romanticism and prefers a theatre based in the Spanish traditions of XVII and XVIII centuries.Gloria y peluca, zarzuela en un acto estrenada en 1851, supone un verdadero manifiesto de defensa de un teatro musical español frente a la ópera italiana, que aparece caricaturizada en la figura del protagonista, Marcelo Pelusa. Dentro de ella, se deja ver el punto de vista de la emergente clase media madrileña de esos años, que rechaza los excesos pasionales del Romanticismo y prefiere un teatro de raíces hispanas, ligado a las tradiciones de los siglos XVII y XVIII
