The growing interest in quantifying the cultural and creative industries, visualize the economic contribution of activities related to culture demands first of all the construction of internationally comparable analysis frameworks. Currently there are three major bodies which address this issue and whose comparative study is the focus of this article: the UNESCO Framework for Cultural Statistics (FCS-2009), the European Framework for Cultural Statistics (ESSnet-Culture 2012) and the methodological resource of the “Convenio Andrés Bello” group for working with the Satellite Accounts on Culture in Ibero-America (CAB-2015). Cultural sector measurements provide the information necessary for correct planning of cultural policies which in turn leads to sustaining industries and promoting cultural diversity. The text identifies the existing differences in the three models and three levels of analysis, the sectors, the cultural activities and the criteria that each one uses in order to determine the distribution of the activities by sector. The end result leaves the impossibility of comparing cultural statistics of countries that implement different frameworks.El creciente interés por cuantificar las industrias culturales y creativas, por visibilizar la contribución económica de las actividades ligadas a la cultura, necesita previamente de la construcción de marcos de análisis homologables y comparables internacionalmente. En la actualidad existen tres grandes referentes que abordan esta cuestión y cuyo estudio comparado es el eje central de este artículo: el Marco de Estadísticas Culturales de la UNESCO (MEC-2009), el Marco Europeo de Estadísticas de Cultura de EUROSTAT (ESSnet-Culture 2012), y el Manual Metodológico del Convenio Andrés Bello para la elaboración de las Cuentas Satélite de Cultura en Iberoamérica (CAB- 2015). Las mediciones del sector cultural arrojan información necesaria para una correcta planificación de las políticas culturales que a su vez desembocan en el sostenimiento de las industrias y en el fomento de la diversidad cultural. El texto identifica las diferencias existentes en los tres modelos y en tres niveles de análisis, los sectores y las actividades culturales, y los criterios que cada uno utiliza para determinar el reparto de las actividades por sector. El resultado final es la imposibilidad de comparar estadísticas culturales de países que aplican los diferentes marcos de referencia
