This study proposed and evaluated a novel clinical breathwork intervention based on the use of self-regulation of respiration, mindfulness and relaxation as a treatment option for depression and anxiety. A therapist training program in the intervention was developed and evaluated, followed by an uncontrolled clinical trial assessing the interventions efficacy in the treatment of depression and anxiety. Results showed that a brief training program is sufficient to teach therapists basic skills in the intervention and that treatment can lead to clinically significant change in depression and anxiety symptoms
