The stronghold is located 1.5 km north-west of Pasym. It is situated on a peninsula called Ostrów withinLake Kalwa. Numerous artefacts were recovered during the course of the excavations: nearly 9000 fragments ofpottery, over 16,000 animal remains, as well as numerous objects that can be dated to the younger Stone Age /early Bronze Age (e.g. a stone axe) or the early Iron Age (a fragment of a bronze knife ), whilst the vast majorityof materials can be dated to the Migration Period and the early Middle Ages.
