A retrieval algorithm that uses a statistical strategy based ondimension reduction is proposed. The methodology and details of theimplementation of the new algorithm are presented and discussed. Thealgorithm has been applied to high resolution spectra measured by theInfrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer instrument to retrieveatmospheric profiles of temperature, water vapour and ozone. Theperformance of the inversion strategy has been assessed by comparingthe retrieved profiles to the ones obtained by co-locating in spaceand time profiles from the European Centre for Medium-Range WeatherForecasts analysis
