Any harmful and unintended reaction caused by medications or drugs are called adverse drug reaction as defined by the World Health Organization. They may be predictable, if a side effect related to the pharmacological or toxic effect of the drug, or unpredictable, when idiosyncratic or hypersensitivity reactions occur. There are many examples of each condition, many of whom are manifested in the skin. In children, accurate diagnosis is a challenge, since they are more susceptible than adults are to these reactions and can be confused with other typical childhood diseases such as viral rash. However, these reactions can vary in severity and accurate diagnosis and appropriate management are critical for a favorable outcome. This review seeks to describe the statistics, risk factors and key features of allergic drug reactions in children and warning signs for severe reactions.
