This communication aims contribute to define the concept of children’s e-picturebooks. There should be a reflection on this subject and on the place that e-picturebook occupies or may occupy, in the children’s reading’s field. Will be the focus of attention: a) generic characteristics of picturebooks; b) the specificities of e-picturebooks; c) the value that applied media, with its intrinsic qualities, assumes in epicturebooks, together with the identification of some possibilities for the future’s development of research on these artefacts, taking into account the increasing value of digital media, as mediators of multimodal narratives, aimed at children.
