The present study performs a brief analysis on the novel the blind spot of writer Lya Luft, weaving some considerations about gender identities (man and woman). Our proposal aims to observe and understand the way social and family relations are established by the characters, which are inserted in a social system quite oppressive: the patriarchal system. A system that makes the female figure occupying an area of disadvantage and low status in relations to man. It is worth noting that our approach is based on the concept of identity as the result of relations, social practices and discursive interactions of individuals in society. For best score our considerations we will introduce a small theoretical approach about the identity, the difference, the identifications and the genre.
