This paper  presents  a relaxation labeling technique\ud with newly defined  compatibility  measures \udfor  solving  a  general  non-rigid  point  matching  prob\udlem.  In  the  literature,  there  exists  a  point \udmatching method  using relaxation labeling, however,\ud the compatibility coefficients always take \uda  binary  value  zero  or  one  depending  on  whether  a  p\udoint  and  a  neighboring  point  have \udcorresponding   points.   Our   approach   generalizes   this\ud   relaxation   labeling   approach.   The \udcompatibility coefficients take n-discrete values w\udhich measures the correlation between edges. \udWe  use  log-polar  diagram  to  compute  correlations.  T\udhrough  simulations,  we  show  that  this \udtopology   preserving   relaxation   method   improves   the \udmatching   performance   significantly \udcompared  to  other  state-of-the-art  algorithms  such \udas  shape  context,  thin  plate  spline-robust \udpoint  matching,  robust  point  matching  by  preserving\ud  local  neighborhood  structures  and \udcoherent point drift
