嗄声の音響的分析に用いられる持続母音は発声障害の程度の高い患者の場合定常とみなせなくなる場合がある.したがって, 非定常性を考慮して音響的分析をするのが望ましい.非定常な持続母音を耳鼻科医が聴いて評価する場合, 持続母音のある特定の区間に注意を向ける傾向にある.そこで, 非定常な持続母音から耳鼻科医が注意を向けていると思われる区間を取り出す方法 (セグメンテーション) を提案する.そして, このセグメンテーションを, 基本周期, 振幅系列のゆらぎの分析に適用し, セグメンテーションを用いることによりゆらぎパラメータと聴覚的印象との関係が良くなることを示す.
