Due to increasing higher-density and higher-function PWBs, the manufacturing cost and quality of component mounting process are influenced by various aspects of the PWB design. Accordingly, to achieve cost-reduction and shorter lead-time in PWB development manufacturing evaluation together with electric characteristics and mechanism design conditions must be considered. For this purpose, we have developed a“Mounting Cost Simulation Tool”, a“Mounting Quality Check Tool”, and“3D Mounting Condition Display Tool”to simulate actual manufacturing process at the PWB design stage. These three simulation tools are explained using concrete cases.
