In the presence of potassium fluoride, at ordinary temperature and pressure, 2, 4-dinitrofluorobenzene in dimethylformamide was reacted with hexafluoropropylene to give 2, 4-dinitroheptafluoroisopropylbenzene in 82% yield. 2-Cyano-4-nitrofluorobenzene and 4-cyano-2-nitrofluorobenzene were also treated with hexafluoropropylene at 6070°C to obtain cyanonitroheptafluoroisopropylbenzenes in 80 90% yields. In a similar manner, 1, 3-dinitro-4, 6-difluorobenzene was converted into 2, 4-dinitro-5-fluoroheptafluoroisopropylbenzene at 0°C.Structures of those heptafluoroisopropylbenzenes were confirmed by the NMR spectra.
