プ ロピレンは現在石油化学工業 に お け る 副産物であ り,2通 りの方法 によ り得 られてい る。す なわち,FCC の廃 ガスよ り分離採取 する方法 とナ フサ分解 によるエチ レ ン製造 の副産物 として得 る方法 とであ る。最近にいた り,プ ロピレンを原料 とす る石油化学工業がポ リプ ロピ レン,ナ イロン,ソ ープレスソー プ,そ の他数多 くの製 品の製造 を 目的 として急激 に進展 し,エ チ レンを原 料 と する化学工業 に匹敵す るまで になってい る。すなわち, プ ロピレンはエチレンよ りも製造が容易であ り,反 応性 に富み,ま た,異 性体が な く精製が容易 なため高純度の ものが得 られ易い など将来性 に関 して最 も有望 な化 学工 業原料 と考 え られ るか らで ある。 本稿 におい ては重合反応 によるプ ロピレンの利 用の う ち,2,3,4量 体 の 生成 を 目的 とする場合 の低 次重合反 応お よび その場合に生成す る重合 体の構造 について述べ る 。
