We experienced 3 cases of subtrochanteric fractures arising as a complicationfollowing osteosynthesis of femoral neck fractures with the cannulated cancellous screw.Screw over tightening applies very high stress, possibly leading to micro-fractures in the lateral cortex of the femur.We suspected that micro-fracture and early weight bearing caused these subtrochanteric fractures.
