Nine idiopathic scoliosis patients (preop. coronal curves 38°-91°) treated with CDI were analyzed to assess the derotational effect on sagittal plane curve. Measurements were made from the lateral standing full length radiographs preoperatively and postoperatively. Cobb measurements of the thoracic kyphosis (T5-T12), the thoracolumbar junction (T10-T12 and T12-L2), and the lumbar lordosis (L1-L5) were de termined. The average preoperative sagittal curve was 14.9° from T5 to 112, and -2.3° from 110-112. Postoperatively it was 24.& and 4.1° respectively. The average lumbar lordosis was a little increase after operation. CDI and the derotational maneuever improved thoracic kyphosis and thoracolumbar sagittal plane.
