A case of primary subacute pyogenic osteomyelitis, twenty-five years old female, was reported with our some discussions. While she have been treated with hypothyroidism due to Hashimoto disease, arthritis of the left knee was aggravated rapidly with general acute clinical reactions. Joint effusion was detected but was not pyogenic. Plain roentgenograms and tomograms showed a cystic lesion in the medial femoral condyl. 99mTcMDP uptake was increased at the bilateral condyles of the femur and contiguous bone activity was so intensive. Biopsy was performed and the lesion turned out to becaused by subacute osteomyelitis. Antibiotics was given intravenously. Then the lesion was curetted and continuous irrigation to the lesion was carried out.Now arthritis of the left knee has disappeared and postopervtive roentgenograms of the femoral condyle have shown no evidence of recurrence.
