Volume 1(2): 1-6 Introduction Coronaviruses are the largest group of positive sense RNA viruses that causes infections in humans, mammals and birds [1]. It belongs to the family coronaviridae and the viral envelope was surrounded by a spike-like structures from which the viral name was derived [2]. The coronaviruses that causes disease in humans are currently seven with four of them causing mild to moderate diseases and these are HCoV-229E, HCoV-OC43, HCoV-NL63 and HCoV-HKU1; the remaining three cause severe diseases particularly related to severe acute respiratory syndrome which include severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARSCoV), middle east respiratory syndrome (MERS-CoV) and the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) [3].
