The purpose of this study is to propose a model that shows the profile of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) in the alignment of information technologies with the business strategy in the case of large Mexican corporations, in order to recognize the importance of this role in the achievement of organizational goals and have a more adequate perception of its scope in organizations. The results obtained so far indicate that the gender that predominates in the role of the CIO is male, with an age range that tends to be over 40 years old and the language that they consider important to the CIO is English, considering that the Management skills that stand out are communication and leadership, while the predominant knowledge required is a business analysis and support for business innovation.
