Ensuring the healthy aging of the population, with quality and access to public health policies, has been the target of global concerns, especially the World Health Organization. The theme of this research deals not only with those who are reaching the best age, but also and in equal importance, the family, the caregiver, as well as institutions legally responsible for the care of the elderly in the face of the obvious social and economic repercussions of the question of the population growth of elderly people and in the face of society’s moral obligation to care for the elderly. The research started from the inductive method, with data collection in public information banks, such as the Ministry of Health, institutions that act in the defense of the rights of the elderly, such as the Public Ministry, and national and international bibliographic research to analyze the quality standards adopted in Brazil. There is a growing concern of the Brazilian State to define criteria and regulate the performance of the Unified Health System in the care of the elderly, with its own laws and policies.
