The goal of this study was to determine pollution intensity of the points for heavy metals according to elemental analyses and concentrations of heavy metals on eight sediments samples obtained from Nakdong estuary. As a result of enrichment factor analyses, cadimum was evaluated as minor enrichment on 8 points but rest of the heavy metals were evaluated as no enrichment. Cadimum was evaluated as unpolluted to moderately polluted at N1 and N4 points and unpolluted at the rest points according to geoaccumulation index analyses. All the other heavy metals except cadimum were classified as unpolluted at all points. For potential ecological risk factor analyses, all heavy metals except cadimum were classified as low risk at 8 points, but cadimum showed considerable risk at 8 points. Probability of toxicity by heavy metals was 8% for N5 and N6 points. The rest of the points showed probability of toxicity of 21% by heavy metals.
