Increased risk of epileptic seizures in patients with Parkinson disease: In February 2018 our epidemiological study was published in the Annals of Neurology, describing an increased risk of epileptic seizures in patients with Parkinson disease. The work was awarded the doctoral prize of the Swiss Epilepsy League. On this occasion the authors were invited to this Minireview. Previous publications on the association between epilepsy and Parkinson's syndrome were sparse and conflicting. Our study was the first to investigate the risk of incident epileptic seizures in association with Parkinson disease using a large populationbased data set with long follow-up.
