Diamond crystals usually present defects that could be classified into distinct groups according to the degree of severity. This work had as its objective to derive a computational model of crystalline defects and to determine its influence on the strength of high pressure and high temperature synthesized diamonds. The model permitted to obtain a general mathematical equation correlating the crystalline defect morphological parameters with the diamond strength. This equation was experimentally verified with practical results from standard single grit tests.
