ポ ンカ ンの屋 根 掛 け栽 培 は,鹿 児 島 県 で は1976年 に初 め て試 み ら れた 。 ポ ンカ ンは 施 設下 で 栽培 す る と,結 果 率 が高 ま り,さ らに果 実 の 肥 大 が促 進 され る(徳 留 ・諏 訪,1979)。 この よ うな利 点 が あ るため に,本 県 にお け る ポ ンカ ンの 施 設 栽培 は,1987年 現在,70haに 達 して い る。 と こ ろ が1981年 に一 部 の 施 設 栽 培 のポ ン カ ンで,ヒ メ ヨ コバ イ類 に よ る被 害 痕 に類 似 した果 皮 障害 が発 生 した( 西 中 間,私 信)。本 障 害 は その後 もわず か ずつ 発 生 して い た が,1985年 に は県 下 全 域 で発 生 が増加 し,問 題 に な っ た(時 任 ら,1988)。 筆 者 らは,本 障 害 と ヒ メ ヨコ バ イ類 の関 連性 に つ い て 1986年9月 か ら12月 に調査 した ので,そ の 概 要 を報 告 す る。 報 告 に先立 ち,日 置 郡 市 来町 にお け る本障 害 の発 生 状 況 を御教 示頂 い た西 中 間勉 氏 と調査 に 多大 の御 協 力 を 項 い た 関係 各位 に謝 意 を表 す る。
